Many journals ask you to submit your best work. Imperfect Fiction wants to see the work you don't quite understand--work you've struggled with but seems to have merit, the one story that all the journals have rejected but you can't understand why, work that seems to be a mistake but a mistake you're inexplicably drawn toward. Imperfect Fiction prefers nontraditional forms and does not require a polished surface. We are particularly interested in Chicago-area writers. Work will be published as it is accepted; in that sense the publishing process is more like a blog than a journal. There is no fee, and authors retain all rights. Attach submissions to an email; please include a few words about yourself and, if you like, about your experience of the piece you are submitting.
